About Simple Soap Works
Simple Soap Works is a small, cottage business located in the beautiful hills of southern Indiana. Soapmaking began in response to the dry, itchy tight skin that I had developed from using commerical detergent bars. I remembered helping my grandmother make laundry soap many, many years ago in Kentucky. I decided I would try making an herbal soap that would help relieve my dry skin. I soon discovered the enormous benefits of using a natural handmade soap. The big advantage is natural soaps contain natural occurring glycerin and healing qualities from herbs, oils, and pure essential oils.
Soapmaking over the last eight years has produced many wonderful soaps that are filled with wonderful smells and moisturizing lather. I have shared my handmade soaps with family members and friends. Their enthusiastic approval has been encouraging. I started sellling soaps at craft shows, herbal farms, and farmer’s markets in 2001.
In 2003, my husband and I started attending 18th century events in the Midwest area. We were able to combine our love of history with the opportunity to share our great soap product with others. The "Living History" events have been a great match for us. In 2004, we decided to create a website so our wonderful customers can order online.
Simple Soap Works offers soaps that are made from a variety of pure renewable vegetable oils, exotic butters, dried herbs, and pure essential oils.
